Major Dhyanchand was born in Allahabad.He was a member of the three-time Olympic gold medal winning Indian hockey team (1928 Amsterdam Olympics, 1932 Los Angeles Olympics and 1936 Berlin Olympics).પહેલા Prior to joining Hockey, he was a Major in the Indian Army.
Once it happened that during a match in the Netherlands, he was seen breaking his hockey stick with the suspicion that there was no magnet in the stick.
Major Saheb fired a shot, he went to the pole and he told the referee that the width of the goal post is less. When the width of the goalpost was measured, everyone was surprised that it was really small.
In 1936, the German goalkeeper deliberately dropped Dhyan Chand. This broke the Major's tooth.ધ્યાન Major Dhyanchand scored more than 400 goals in his entire international career, the highest ever in the history of hockey.
Dhyan Chand was also awarded the prestigious Padma Bhushan of India in 1956.
Hitler asked the Major to play for his Germans and promised to be a marshal in the German Army, but the Major turned down the offer.
Government of India decided to celebrate Major Dhyanchand's birth anniversary in the year 2012 as National Sports Day, 29th August is celebrated every year as "National Sports Day" across the country.He died on 03 December 1979.
